Case Study - Jack Links' custom-made thaw bins

Jack Links is an American-owned business which manufactures beef jerky mainly for export to the US. Jack links employs over 1000 people and distributes product to 40 countries around the globe.

Due to the success of marketing the product in New Zealand and increased demand from export destinations, Jack Links Auckland wanted to increase production capacity by speeding up the thawing process.  Furthermore Jack Links was using an injection-moulded bin, however the bins had excessive maintenance costs due to their poor performance at low temperatures. 

Rotaform designed a custom-made thaw bin and a pallet which fitted the current processes, had fewer breakages at low temperatures and improved the speed of thaw.

Jack Links are subject to daily MAF audits in order to conform to stringent United States and European Union food standards so Rotaform had to ensure both the material and design of the bins conformed to these high standards.
